48 Update: We Made a Movie! And It Screens This Week!

Well, this is a tad overdue. The Minneapolis 48 Hour Film Project weekend is now almost a week behind us. I hope you all haven’t been waiting with bated breath since Marcus’ last post when he finished the script. If you have, then wow! You must have superhuman lung capacity!

You can exhale now. Because we did it! We successfully made a movie and turned it in on time without any loss of life or limb. And we’re very happy with the result! Our dedicated and talented team of artists delivered the goods, turning the weekend into one of our favorite film challenge experiences yet. Check out some production stills below and visit the Two Jackets Facebook page for even more:

I’m not going to delve into the nitty gritty of last weekend’s production in this post; we’re going to save that for an in-depth summation later this month when the local 48HFP events come to a close. After all, the film isn’t truly complete until it screens for an audience.

Speaking of which, you should come out and see it! Our entry, titled Cosmic Questers ‘97, is screening as part of the Group C Premieres at 7:00pm this Wednesday at the Riverview Theater. You can RSVP and see what other films are playing on the Facebook event page here. If you’re planning to attend, we recommend buying your tickets online in advance. You’ll save a whole dollar if you do! (Woot!)

I’m jacked for this week’s events, which include five blocks of screenings over three nights at the Riverview! Our screening can’t arrive soon enough, as I’m confident that the film will perform well in front of a live audience. It has all the requirements of a crowd-pleaser: action, comedy, romance, and Bill Dablow, packaged up in a totally awesome '90s wrapper! I’m also pumped to see our friends’ projects, including those by Two Jackets regulars, Craig Larson, Ben Efron, and Rachel Palashewski, each of whom had teams of their own.

So stop by the Riverview this week and take in a truly unique film experience. Over 60 teams made films in Minneapolis last weekend, in the same amount of time, with the same required elements. The result is a dazzling display of creativity and community. Join us, won’t you?

Happy 2015!

Hey mamas and papas, Eric here. Since I'm sure you're all dying to know what we've been up to the last couple months and what we'll be doing in 2015, I thought I'd give you a little update!

First off, I'd like to announce that we will NOT be participating in this year's Z-Fest Film Festival. Two Jackets has been involved in this great little fest for the past two years, but we've decided to forgo the competition this year so that we can focus on other projects. Z-Fest is always a fun time, and I'm sure we'll be checking out this year's films and participating again in the future.

What are these other projects we're focusing on? What madness are we planning for 2015? Well, little darlings, we're keeping it a secret. We just can't tell you. What I CAN say is that we're very excited about it and that it's a big project that we'll be bugging about for much of 2015! So you have that to look forward to! I'm such a tease!

The other exciting goings-on involves our feature Limpwings! We tickled you last summer that Limpwings would be coming to DVD and Video On-Demand, and we promise that is still happening. We've been designing DVD jackets and menus, and right now we're hoping to have everything ready by late spring/early summer 2015. Of course, this is just an estimate, and we'll give you a concrete date when we're good and ready!

That's all the news I have for now! More to come soon!

Four Points Wrap-up

Hey there boys and girls!

This year's Four Points Film Project has come to a close and the results are in! Unfortunately, Team Two Jackets' entry, "I Stole a Lot of Money!" was not awarded any additional accolades, but the fact that we made it to the top 20 in this worldwide competition completely blows me away. Please check out the rest of the top 20 films by going to the Four Points' Vimeo Channel! The wizards who push the buttons over at the Four Points cave have not yet publicly released the winners, so keep an eye on their website for more info.

I just want to thank everyone again for all their amazing work on "I Stole a Lot of Money!" We put together a truly amazing crew, played with some of our favorite actors, got a chance to work with some extraordinary new talent, wrote an amazing song, and managed to put together a really fun little film. We here at Two Jackets Productions can't stress enough how impossible it would be to do what we do without the support of dozens of talented Minneapolis filmmakers, actors, and artists. Thank you all so much.

And now onto our next project! We're planning on participating in Z-Fest 2015, so keep following this blog for further details. Go Team Two Jackets!

Love,
Eric

48 Hour Film Project 2013

Not only are we in the middle of launching our new site and posting all of our past content here for your viewing enjoyment, we just wrapped production on a brand-spankin'-new short film! And it only took two days to make!

That's right! For the second year running, Two Jackets Productions assembled a team of talented, dedicated, and mostly-attractive people for the Minneapolis 48 Hour Film Project! That's non-stop movie-making mania from 7pm Friday to 7pm Sunday, kiddos! And, boy oh boy, was it a hoot! We made a wartime-comedy-romance set in an abandoned office space, titled All's Chair in Love and War. If you feel like checkin' it out, come on down to the Riverview Theater in South Minneapolis at 7pm this upcoming Wednesday (June 12th).

Lastly, it must be said that we here at Two Jackets consider ourselves very fortunate to have such a fabulous network of friendly film-making folk with whom to collaborate here in the Twin Cities. We wouldn't have been able to make a film 1/100th as great as we did last weekend without the cast and crew we had. Thanks team!

We'll keep all y'all posted on how the film does in the competition. Our 48HFP entry last year, Put a Ring on It, which you can watch here, won Best Score, Best Editing, and Second Runner-Up in the city; and, being the greedy bastards we are, we're hoping to top ourselves this time 'round!

See you Wednesday at the Riverview!

Andrew
